Peat, Moore, Ellerbe, among others, ruled out vs. Chiefs

The Saints released their final injury report for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, and a few important names made the list.

Dannell Ellerbe, Andrus Peat, Sterling Moore, Daniel Lasco, Stephone Anthony, and Delvin Breaux are all out. Terron Armstead and Paul Kruger are questionable.

Fans are used to Dannell Ellerbe missing games at this point. He was the only player of those ruled out, that participated in a limited capacity in practice over a week. So that’s a good sign moving forward. By his own account, he’s feeling good. Here’s to hoping he’ll suit up next week.

Losing Andrus Peat is tough, but the loss will be mitigated if Terron Armstead is able to suit up. Peat served very well in Armstead’s absence, and Senio Kelemete filled in admirably at LG for Peat. But if Armstead can’t play on Sunday, that leaves Tony Hills as the starter at LT. Hills has flashed athleticism at times, but overall his play has left much to be desired.

Daniel Lasco being ruled out is another blow to the Saints special teams unit. Expect Lampman and Dixon to see extended action in his absence.

Without a doubt, in my mind, the most troubling name on the list is Sterling Moore. In the absence of P.J. Williams and Delvin Breaux, Sterling Moore has done just about as much as the Saints can ask. He’s played very well against Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. and did come up with a great interception against the Panthers last week. The Saints have been just destroyed by injuries at CB, and their luck with band-aid backups has to run out sooner or later. That said, B.W. Webb and Ken Crawley have played very well. But who does that leave at nickel corner?

Finally, Stephone Anthony’s absence will, unfortunately, go largely unnoticed.
