Payton plans on remaining a Saint

The coach signed a contract extension in 2011, before any punishment was levied for the Bountygate scandal, but the NFL has voided that deal sometime in the past year, said the report.
The problem with the extension has nothing to do with the NFL's investigation into the Saints bounty program, but reportedly has to do with language in the deal that would allow Payton to walk away from the team if general manager Mickey Loomis were suspended, fired or left the team for any reason.
"I absolutely plan on being a New Orleans Saint," Payton said to Glazer.
Payton cited the close relationship he has with the City of New Orleans and the Benson family, which owns the franchise.
However, there is a chance he could test the coaching waters and become the most sought-after candidate for 2013.
Payton has been working for team owner Tom Benson's NBA franchise, the New Orleans Hornets, in the interim.
