Panthers WR coach Ricky Proehl excited about the offensive weapons

To say that Ricky Proehl had a tough first two seasons as the wide receivers coach of the Carolina Panthers would be a bit of an understatement. Not only did his group of receivers in 2014 feature absolutely zero players who had ever caught a pass from Cam Newton, but the group was led by a rookie in Kelvin Benjamin and two veterans in Jason Avant and Jerricho Cotchery.
What a difference a year makes.
Now, as Proehl heads into 2015, he's more than a bit excited about the options at the position, according to David Newton of ESPN. Proehl may have summed it up best when telling ESPN that the team has "every weapon in our arsenal."
This not only includes Benjamin, but rookie Devin Funchess, Stephen Hill and free agents Jarrett Boykin and Ted Ginn Jr.
“I look around my room and you’ve just got not just really good football players, but good guys that work hard, that study, smart players," Proehl said. “From a coaching standpoint, it’s exciting that you can go out and really coach."
Quarterback Cam Newton may be a happy man right about now, as he's set for a new contract soon and an impressive stable of receivers to throw to.
