Packers QB Aaron Rodgers admits he has been playing hurt

Aaron Rodgers popped up on the injury report Wednesday with some sort of shoulder ailment, but apparently it is not a new injury.

Rodgers has not played well during the Green Bay Packers' current three-game losing streak. Earlier this week, he told reporters that he has been playing hurt but doesn’t want that to be an excuse.

“It’s not an excuse. It’s a source of pride. I think that’s the difference,” he said Wednesday, via Jason Wilde of ESPN.com. “Some people use the injuries as an excuse. But I think for the guys in this locker room who are out there battling, it’s a source of pride.”

We knew it.

In addition to the shoulder injury, Rodgers also suffered some sort of leg injury during last week’s loss to the Detroit Lions. Some of his throws in that game were uncharacteristically erratic, leading us to wonder if something was wrong.

Rodgers has been sacked 11 times in the past three games, so Green Bay’s offensive line is not playing well. But there have also been times where he seems unable to avoid the rush or afraid of taking off and running. The injuries almost certainly have something to do with that.

If nothing else, this should help support the case Rodgers’ girlfriend was trying to make earlier this week. It’s not her fault, you guys.
