No surprise here: Josh Norman named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

First, it was the NFC Defensive Player of the Month accolade that cornerback Josh Norman took down. After an incredible month of play, it was no surprise to see Norman win the award. Now, his strong play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 is getting much-deserved praise.
Norman was simply stellar against the Buccaneers, tallying four tackles, two interceptions, three passes defensed and a touchdown. In turn, Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review reports that Norman has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
It's not a huge surprise after such a stellar game, but as Voth points out, this makes Norman the first Panthers cornerback named NFC Defensive Player of the Week since Ricky Manning Jr. back in 2003.
Norman is being called one of the best defensive backs in the NFL, for good reason. If he keeps this pace up, we'll not only see Norman at the Pro Bowl, but with a very big contract extension this offseason.
