At 1-4, it’s pretty clear the Niners aren’t going to be looking at second-half upgrades and could try to offload some talent with hopes of restocking draft picks in upcoming seasons.

This year, the 2016 NFL trade deadline falls on November 1, which is the Tuesday following San Francisco’s Week 8 bye.

NFL trade deadlines aren’t quite as active as other major sports. Teams are always hesitant to move precious draft picks midseason, unless it’s absolutely necessary — see quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings — so the chances of a blockbuster deal are always low.

Yet general manager Trent Baalke does have a knack for acquiring draft picks. So it would be completely out of the question to see some 49ers action leading up to the deadline.

Remember, Baalke was able to move tight end Vernon Davis to the Denver Broncos a year ago.

San Francisco doesn’t exactly have a ton of commodities in which other teams might be interested. But there are a few players who could draw attention from elsewhere.

And, according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the Niners are one team other teams could be looking at leading up to the deadline.

Safety Antoine Bethea

One of the likeliest candidates to be moved at the deadline is veteran safety Antoine Bethea.

Bethea has one year remaining on his current contract. At 32 years old, it’s hard to say how much production he’d be able to offer up to a team in need of secondary upgrades. But, according to Pro Football Focus, Bethea is still enjoying a good year and has an 80.8 overall grade on the season.

The Niners wouldn’t get much more than a late-round pick for Bethea. But such a move would make sense if San Francisco wants to continue its youth movement and try to place second-year safety Jaquiski Tartt into a more prominent role.

Cornerback Tramaine Brock

Like Bethea, cornerback Tramaine Brock also has just one more year on his current deal.

Brock has the worst PFF grade out of any of San Francisco’s top-four corners. And considering how well rookie cornerback Rashard Robinson has played over five weeks, swapping the two makes a bit of sense.

Remember, Baalke has stockpiled corners over the last few drafts. And while Brock has more experience than the vast majority of Niners defensive backs, a move would open up the door for younger players to get more time on the field.

Again, don’t expect much in return though.

EDGE Tank Carradine

San Francisco extended edge rusher Tank Carradine earlier this season after a strong preseason showing.

But those preseason efforts haven’t carried over into the regular season. Carradine’s PFF grade is 61.1. And we simply haven’t seen the on-field results, which have been further diminished by his poor run defense.

Still, he only has one more year remaining on his deal. And teams are always looking to add pass-rushers. Perhaps some suitor, probably a 4-3 defense, would be intrigued by adding Carradine with he hopes he could replicate his collegiate abilities.

Defensive Tackle Glenn Dorsey

The 49ers have the worst run defense in the league, and oft-injured defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey is one of the few Niners defensive linemen capable of adequately stopping the run with any sort of regularity.

He’s in a contract year, so it’s hard to determine whether or not San Francisco wants to keep him around to help with the defense’s run defense. At 31 years old though, it’s harder to see him a long-term fixture of the 49ers defensive line.

Potential trade partners wouldn’t be looking closely at Dorsey though, considering his injury history. So such a move has to be seen as unlikely at best.

Maybe we see a trade or two, but a fire sale out of Santa Clara is probably the least thing we should expect.

The likelihood of deals happening is slim at best. And the majority of players possibly moved probably wind up as backups for most teams looking for second-half reinforcements.
