NFL, NFLRA meet, but no new deal

Published Sep. 20, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

The NFL and NFLRA had substantial talks on Tuesday and Wednesday, but have still not come to a resolution. The NFL has used replacement referees the first two weeks of the regular season.

Although it is optimistic that there is communication between the two sides, serious economic gaps remain. The league and the NFLRA are in negotiations over salary, retirement benefits and operational issues.

The referees have been locked out since June and replacement officials have created quite a stir in that time.
