On the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the New York Giants will be honoring those we lost.

Many of the NFL headlines recently have been about players sitting for the National Anthem. For the New York Giants, the National Anthem will have a special meaning because of the attacks that rocked the Tri-State area 15 years ago this Sunday.

To honor those that were lost in the September 11th attacks, Giants wide receivers Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. will be wearing special cleats against the Cowboys. This will certainly be a welcomed sight for Giants fans that will be watching at home with the New York Jets playing in MetLife stadium on September 11th.

Cruz has not been afraid to speak mind about Colin Kaepernick’s recent decision to sit during the National Anthem.

“Regardless of how you feel about things that are going on in America today and things that are going on across the world with gun violence and things of that nature, you’ve got to respect the flag,” Cruz said after the Giants’ third preseason game to Dan Duggan of NJ.com. “You’ve got to stand up with your teammates. It’s bigger than just you, in my opinion. I think you go up there, your with your team, and you pledge your allegiance to the flag and sing the national anthem with your team. And then you go about your business no matter what your beliefs are.”

In addition to both wearing special cleats in Dallas, two members of the NYPD will be joining former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush for the ceremonial coin toss.

The Giants might not be at home on Sunday, but home will certainly be in their minds on what will be an emotional Sunday.
