Mike Mularkey: No extra satisfaction in beating Jacksonville

Published Dec. 7, 2015 12:25 a.m. ET

Sunday's 42-39 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars not only helped snap an 11-game home losing for the streak the Tennessee Titans, it also gave interim head Mike Mularkey a win over his former team.

Mularkey spent one season as Jacksonville's head coach, going 2-14 in 2012 before being let go. He took over in Tennessee Nov. 3 when Ken Whisenhunt was fired after a 1-6 start to the season.

Despite the opponent, Mularkey said after the game he was concerned with simply getting a win, not getting revenge.

“I think (the players) thought it was important for me to win because of my previous history,” Mularkey said, per the Tennessean. “I told them (Saturday night) that no, it was important to win for all of us in the room, the coaching staff and the players, because of how hard we work. That’s why I want to win.”

With the victory, the Titans improved to 2-3 under Mularkey.
