Matt Hasselbeck says Andrew Luck 'takes pride in not showering'

For the first time since 1998, Matt Hasselbeck is not reporting to an NFL training camp in late July. He finally retired in March at age 40 after taking some serious abuse last season in relief of Colts franchise QB Andrew Luck.
Now free to hang out with his kids and discuss his football life without fear of a locker room reprisal, he opened up about Luck's hygiene during an appearance on "Mike and Mike" on Thursday. Here's a piece of it:
"He’s kind of like a college kid, still," Hasselbeck said. "He takes pride in not showering, kind of a thing, you know ... He's grungy."
The slightly unkempt beard kind of gives that way. Speaking of college life, Luck said prior to signing his big $140 million contract that he was looking forward to buying a robot ping pong thing that hits balls back at you.
And although Luck is now long removed from school, he's still a capable math tutor. Hasselbeck:
"We had like three or four Stanford guys (on the Colts). And I had a little distribution list, and I’d send out a little math homework. I’ll tell you what, in fifth grade, math gets kind of tough. And now these guys are spread out on other teams, so the distribution list is not changing. As we get older, the homework gets harder. I’m not afraid to say it, but my kids get upset — I think that was in the newspaper one time and teachers said, ‘Hey, tell your parents that you can’t get Andrew Luck to help you with your homework."
A network of Stanford graduates reviewing math homework via e-mail -- not a bad way to get through grade school.
