Marshawn Lynch's agent says Beast Mode misses football

Published Mar. 21, 2017 1:47 p.m. ET

Marshawn Lynch’s possible return to the NFL was the league’s biggest story over the weekend, following reports that the Raiders might have interest in coaxing the former Seahawks running back out of retirement.

Lynch, 30, sat out the 2016 season, so two things must happen before Oakland can get Lynch to wear the uniform of his hometown team:

1.     Lynch must inform the NFL that he wants to play again, something he has not done or even talked about doing.

2.     The Seahawks would have to release him or trade him to the Raiders because Seattle still retains his rights.

With everyone talking about whether Lynch could be of any help to the Seahawks, Raiders or any other team after an injury-marred 2015 season that preceded his retirement, his agent, Doug Hendrickson, told KNBR-AM in San Francisco on Monday that Lynch misses football but that he doesn’t know much more about Beast Mode’s intentions than that.

“Well in all sincerity, Marshawn’s been in Canada,” Hendrickson said. “I’m due to see him this week. So he and I have not spoken about this at all. So it was the media who took the ball and kind ran with it.

“He’s one of the most unique guys I’ve ever been with in my life. Marshawn, it wouldn’t shock me in three days if he says, ‘Hey, I want to play.’ It wouldn’t shock me if he says, ‘Nah, I don’t know where this came from. I don’t want to play.'

“He doesn’t spend any of the money he’s made. He’s got a lot of money. He does miss football, no question. He loves the game of football. ... He’s 30. But until I meet with him this week, you know, I don’t know what his mindset is. He’s the kind of guy that can shift by the hour.”
