Madden NFL 18 cover athlete, release date, pre-order info and more

The cover athlete and release date information for Madden NFL 18 was released on Friday, so what all do you need to know about the game?
In the middle of spring, NFL fans look for just about anything football to hang their hats on. That includes way too much emphasis being put on OTAs and minicamps. It also includes freaking out over news that might not even be reported midseason. Finally, though, there is also the matter of the info regarding the next Madden NFL release coming out.
There is always speculation regarding who the cover athlete is going to be for Madden. Following such a star-studded 2017 season, the question of who should grace the cover of Madden 18 has been on the minds of many. A joint cover with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott would've been cool. So too would've been a cover with the likes of Derek Carr.
However, the good people at EA Sports decided to go with someone that they'd shockingly never put on the cover before. Fresh off putting another ring on his finger and an epic Super Bowl LI comeback, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will grace the cover of Madden 18.
Here's a look at his cover, specifically for the special edition they're calling "The G.O.A.T. Edition":

Predictably, the game looks fantastic. And it's truly shocking that EA Sports is just now putting Tom Brady on the cover of Madden.
As you can see from the tweet with The G.O.A.T. Edition cover, Madden 18 will be released on Aug. 25. And though it's not pictured here, Brady is also on the cover of the standard edition — though he's far less enthused than on the special edition.
