Lombardi Ave Picks 2016: National Football League Week 4 Roundup

The Green Bay Packers were on a bye week in Week 4, but we here at Lombardi Ave still made picks on the other weekly games for our little competition.

What We Got Right
We all saw a mostly mediocre week, but were on top of a few picks as a whole group.
Washington hasn’t looked great this year, but in a matchup against a competitive-while-awful Cleveland team we were right to expect them to come out with a victory to get to 2-2.
Denver came out and shut down a Tampa Bay team that was expected to take a jump but now sits at 1-3 with the same questions that always follow them.
Dallas continued a somewhat surprising start to the year, doing enough to get past a San Francisco team that is more competitive than last season but still lacks quality talent (and also lost their best player in NaVorro Bowman to an Achilles injury in the game).
Pittsburgh rebounded strongly from a bad showing in Philadelphia with a explosive display versus Kansas City behind Ben Roethlisberger and the return of Le’veon Bell.
Minnesota continued to show their defensive talents and offensive competence in shutting down the Giants — especially Odell Beckham Jr. (3 catches, 23 yards).
What We Got Wrong
With a lot of the same picks across the board, we also ended up getting most of the same things wrong.
Though we saw a good effort first-hand from Jacksonville in Week 1 against Green Bay, none of us expected them to overcome a Colts team which had shown a dominance over their fellow division rivals (13 straight wins against the AFC South until Sunday) and is led by Andrew Luck. The Jaguars came out and held off a late rally to win in London though, and showed Indianapolis is yet again not as good as we may expect them to be.
Behind injuries and ineffectiveness, Chicago had looked like one of the worst teams in the league through three weeks; meanwhile, Detroit started their year with a strong comeback win and made big plays (including a handful against the Packers in Week 3) throughout. Detroit came out far too flat again though and the Bears put together a competent game to win.
After the way the Patriots performed in Week 3 against Houston, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would’ve gone against them versus an over-hyped Buffalo team even if Julian Edelman had needed to be the quarterback. Buffalo surprised the world though, pressuring Jacoby Brissett all day and shutting out New England to get back to .500 on the year.
Who Won The Week?
It was a pretty middling week for us all — across the four of us, we had a net +2 record — so it makes sense to see a tie for the weekly winner.
Brad and Josh each won the week with 9 correct picks.
Week 4 Picks Records:
Brad: 9-7

Kenn: 8-8
Thomas: 7-9
2016 Picks Records:
