Linebacker Jordan Hicks explains the Eagles' home dominance

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Linebacker Jordan Hicks has an answer for why the Eagles have consistently been better at home.

“It’s three maybe four plays that shows that difference” said Hicks when asked why the Philadelphia Eagles have been a better team when playing at Lincoln Financial Field. If you take every game, with the exception of the mauling they received at the hands of the Washington Redskins at FedExField, the second year standout may have a point.

Hicks, for those that may not know, joins tight end Zach Ertz and right tackle Lane Johnson as three of the positive memories that came out of the draft classes that belonged to the era of former head coach Chip Kelly.

He was the 84th pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. He etched his name into the collective minds of Eagles fans everywhere for two reasons. Most of us were introduced to him when he delivered a knockout blow to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Some of you may also recognize him as the guy who picked off a pass later in the season, also against the Cowboys, that he returned for a touchdown. He’s become one of the building blocks that Eagles will rely on to build their defense on. First thing’s first though. Philadelphia needs to beat the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.

“It’s not a matter of how we play. It’s about executing, and we need to execute consistently” Hicks continued when discussing the team’s road woes and how to get them fixed. “If we handle our business, we’ll be alright, but I think the way you have to approach it is to, kind of, see the light at the end of the tunnel and understand that it’s there, but in no, way shape or form should we look ahead..”

Here’s an excerpt from Hicks’ meeting with the Philadelphia media:

“We’ve got to handle business each and every week and treat it like an individual opportunity”. Those have got to be some of the truest words spoken from any member of this team that we’ve heard all season. We’ll have to see what happens. Monday night will be here before you know it.
