Lawyer says Saints' Galette cleared in misdemeanor domestic incident

A lawyer for New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette says his client has been cleared in a misdemeanor battery case in a domestic disturbance at his home last month.
Ralph Whalen says he was told Thursday evening by Assistant Kenner City Attorney Howat Peters that the case has been dropped after further investigation and witness interviews.
Peters referred comment to interim City Attorney Mike Power, who did not respond to an email message.
Galette was arrested on Jan. 5, when police responded to a disturbance at his suburban New Orleans home.
The woman who alleges Galette beat her that day has filed a lawsuit accusing the NFL player of subjecting her to false imprisonment, human trafficking, rape and other types of physical and mental abuse.
