Kyle Long is not happy with the way he played against the Lions

Chicago Bears right tackle Kyle Long only accepts excellence. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two NFL seasons, so even a single subpar performance tends to get under his skin.

Not only did Long shoulder some of the blame for the Bears' 37-34, overtime loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 4 -- he was really hard on himself.

"I played like dog s--- today," Long wrote in a Tweet after the game. "Missed blocks, holding penalties. You should never hear my name. Sorry Chicago. You deserve great."

On Tuesday, Long elaborated on the harsh assessment of his play, via ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

"I let number 57 [Lions outside linebacker Josh Bynes] look like an All-Star," Long said. "I personally was probably one of their top defenders. If you look at it statistically, two tackles for loss, two holding penalties in key situations."

Long's two Pro Bowls came at right guard. This is his first season at tackle, and he's experiencing some growing pains as he gets familiar with the new position. He said his pass-protection has improved on the edge, according to ESPN, but Long believes he needs to do a better job run-blocking.

Someone should remind Long that he's leading the way for Matt Forte, who's currently the NFL's top running back with 507 yards through six games (84.5 yards per game).
