Jets' Wilkerson: Todd Bowles 'went off on us' after loss to Texans

Following the New York Jets' 24-17 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, head coach Todd Bowles was none too happy -- and understandably so.

The offense struggled to move the ball all game, while the defense couldn't stop DeAndre Hopkins in the slightest bit. A combination of that and two late-game turnovers sunk the Jets and fueled Bowles' frustration.

According to defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, Bowles "went off" on the Jets after the loss.

"Coach Todd, after the game, went off on us and told us, 'Losing is not acceptable,'" Wilkerson said, via Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. "He doesn't like losing, as well. I'm pretty sure that everybody in the locker room definitely needs to have that spark lit under them this week, and we need to get these wins rolling quickly."

Having dropped four of their last five, the Jets have fallen apart after starting 4-1. They're in danger of missing the playoffs once again if they don't string together a few wins, beginning with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Maybe Bowles' fiery attitude will create a spark and start a run, and it doesn't sound like he'll stop being hard on his players if the losses continue.

"He's an emotional guy," Wilkerson said. "He yells at us when things are not going as they should on the field, and they're not looking the way he expects it to be. He definitely gets on us."

Three of the Jets' final six games are at home, with another coming "on the road" against the New York Giants. With four games set to be played at their home stadium, the Jets have a chance to make a run in the coming weeks.
