Jets waive/injured Zach Sudfeld, sign Steve Maneri
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets have waived/injured tight end Zach Sudfeld with a knee injury, and signed veteran tight end Steve Maneri.
Sudfeld tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during minicamp practice last Wednesday. He was helped off the field after he went down when safety Calvin Pryor hit him in the shoulder during drills.
Sudfeld had just seven catches for 85 yards last season, but made his mark on special teams with a team-high 20 kick-coverage tackles. He was claimed off waivers from New England in 2013.
Maneri has six catches for 52 yards in 24 games over five seasons. Signed by Houston as an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 2010, Maneri also has spent time with New England, Kansas City, Chicago and Tampa Bay.
