Jets' Revis, Decker and Ivory all uncertain for Eagles game
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets could be down a few big playmakers against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cornerback Darrelle Revis, wide receiver Eric Decker and running back Chris Ivory are all uncertain to play Sunday because of injuries.
Revis strained his groin Monday night during a game in which he had an interception and two fumble recoveries in the Jets' win at Indianapolis. He practiced on a limited basis Thursday after not participating at all Wednesday.
"We'll see," Revis said. "I'm day to day."
Revis is encouraged by the fact the injury has improved since the beginning of the week, and coach Todd Bowles is hopeful Revis will be ready to play. Revis said he has never dealt with a groin injury during his playing career.
When asked if the groin issue affected him against the Colts, Revis smiled.
"I don't know," said Revis, selected the AFC defensive player of the week. "You saw the game, right?"
If Revis can't go, the Jets are likely to use a combination of Buster Skrine and Marcus Williams, as they did in Week 1 against the Browns when Antonio Cromartie went out with a knee injury.
Decker sprained his left knee against the Colts and hasn't practiced since. He was having a big game before the injury, catching eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.
"It's progressing," Decker said. "If I'm not feeling like I'm going to go out there and be productive or be able to play 60-plus snaps, I don't want to take someone's spot who could be productive on a gameday roster."
He added that he wants to be "smart" about dealing with the injury and not rush back, something he feels he did last season while nursing a pulled hamstring.
"Last year, I know I pushed myself too fast," Decker said. "That's something you learn from. Going through a full season and understanding that, OK, doing that really affected me for half the season, so was it worth it? From this standpoint, it wasn't."
Ivory is dealing with a quadriceps injury after straining his groin last week and hasn't practiced this week. He will likely be a game-time decision.
"We'll see how that goes," Ivory said. "Things are going good right now."
Bowles announced that backup wide receiver Chris Owusu had arthroscopic knee surgery and will be sidelined at least three weeks.
Linebacker Trevor Reilly (finger infection) and cornerback Darrin Walls (hamstring) didn't practice, while guards James Carpenter (back) and Willie Colon (knee), and linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin (concussion) were limited. It was the first time Mauldin participated in practice since being carted off the field and hospitalized in Week 1 with a concussion.
