New York Jets All-Pro center Nick Mangold has a high ankle sprain that could sideline him for at least Sunday's game at Oakland.
Coach Rex Ryan says Mangold is ''very iffy'' for the game and adds that he doesn't ''think it looks very good.'' Ryan says an MRI exam Monday revealed the severity of the injury.
Mangold hurt his right ankle in the first quarter of the Jets' 32-3 victory over Jacksonville on Sunday. Mangold was replaced by rookie Colin Baxter, an undrafted free agent who would likely get the start if Mangold can't go, as expected.
High ankle sprains usually take a few weeks to heal, so it appears Mangold's streak of starting all 82 regular-season games since he was drafted in 2006 is in serious jeopardy.
