Santonio Holmes will play for the New York Jets at Buffalo on Sunday after the wide receiver missed five games with a hamstring injury.
Holmes is listed as probable on the team's injury report Friday, and coach Rex Ryan is excited about getting his most experienced wide receiver back on the field. Holmes was injured at Tennessee in Week 4, just as he and rookie quarterback Geno Smith were trying to develop a rapport.
Ryan says the Jets will be ''smart'' about how many snaps Holmes plays against the Bills to avoid reinjuring the hamstring. Holmes could still play a major role, especially with fellow receiver Jeremy Kerley out with a dislocated elbow.
Tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. will also return from a four-game suspension.
