Jets' Cromartie doesn't think Beckham Jr. has reached his potential

When the New York Jets and New York Giants take the field on Sunday, the highly-anticipated matchup of Darrelle Revis and Odell Beckham Jr. may not happen. Revis is still in concussion protocol and has made "slight progress," but isn't certain to play.

Instead, it'll likely be Antonio Cromartie lining up across from Beckham.

It wasn't long ago that Cromartie called Beckham a "one-year wonder," which should add another wrinkle to the showdown coming on Sunday. Prior to the game, though, Cromartie backtracked on his comments a bit.

"I still feel like there's still so much room for him to grow," Cromartie said via Darryl Slater of NJ.com on Monday. "He's a young, athletic guy that can go out and make plays, and make unbelievable catches. He's proven that over and over."

Though he's widely considered to be one of the best wideouts in the league, Cromartie thinks Beckham will get even better -- especially with Eli Manning throwing him the football.

"He does have a lot of room to grow, because he's so young," Cromartie said. "He's only in his second year. So he only can evolve in that offense, and being around the guys, like Eli Manning, to make him evolve more. Yes, he has a lot of room to grow, to be the guy that everyone knows he can be."

It won't be easy for Cromartie or the Jets to slow down Beckham, as he's on a hot streak of late. Being without Revis will make it even tougher.
