Jets coach: We're going to win

How important is Sunday's Jets-Patriots AFC divisional playoff game? According to the New York Post, Rex Ryan says it's the second-most important game in franchise history.

Ranking behind only that little upset that Joe Namath & Co. sprang on the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.

"This (game) will probably be the second-biggest game in the history of this franchise," the loquacious Jets coach said in a transcript provided by the team. "Obviously, Super Bowl III being the first. I think (this game) is even (more important) than even last year’s Colts game (in the AFC Championship).

"I think this one is huge because you have your rival, who is a team that has won three Super Bowls, in your own division, at their place and coming off the huge, embarrassing Monday night loss. This without question will be the second-biggest game in the history of the franchise. That’s my opinion."

The Jets and Patriots split their two regular-season games, the Jets winning 28-14 at home in Week 2 and the Patriots cruising 45-3 on their field in Week 13.

For Sunday's game, the Jets are an 8 1/2-point underdog, the Post reported.

"We do not fear them. We respect them and we’re going to win the game," Ryan said. "That’s our message."
