Jets bumped from current playoff picture despite getting win Saturday

The New York Jets won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday night against the Dallas Cowboys, moving their record to 9-5 on the year. They've been outstanding of late and appear to be on track for a playoff berth, but their win in Week 15 didn't exactly help their chances of reaching the postseason much.
In fact, they were bumped from the current playoff picture despite coming away with the win. That's because the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs also won in Week 15. And because of crazy tie breaking procedures, the Jets surrendered their playoff spot.
Even if the Jets win their final two games, they're not guaranteed to make the postseason. They'd be just the third team in NFL history to miss the playoffs with an 11-5 record, which is incredible.
Their two remaining games are against the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. The Patriots won't be easy to beat, but the Bills have all kinds of problems. To make matters worse for the Jets, the Chiefs' and Steelers' schedules aren't exactly daunting.
The Chiefs will face the lowly Browns and Raiders, while the Steelers have two road games against the Ravens and Cleveland. Todd Bowles said the Jets need to win out to make the playoffs, and he's probably right. Even then, they'll need help from Kansas City and Pittsburgh. A loss to the Patriots won't end the Jets' season, but it's almost a must-win game.
