Jeremy Maclin downgraded to out vs. Falcons

The Kansas City Chiefs can’t figure out who is healthy and who isn’t, as they continue to mess with the injury report. Now, Jeremy Maclin is out for the Falcons game.

This has been a ridiculous week on the injury front in Kansas City. There have been multiple players who have appeared on the injury report and then been taken off within the matter of two days (Alex Smith, Travis Kelce, Mitch Schwartz and Chris Conley). There has been Justin Houston, who practiced, then didn’t, then gave a limited effort on Friday.

However, the two consistent players were Jeremy Maclin and Dee Ford, both of whom were limited all week and labeled as questionable. Maclin actually interviewed with the press at his locker after Friday’s practice, talking about the special cleats he was going to wear this weekend.

Now, suddenly, he went from questionable to out. The star has been dealing with a groin pull over the last month, and he will now miss his fourth game (fifth if you count the Jaguars game, when he played all of one snap).

So, it begs the question… what the hell happened to Maclin between Friday night and Saturday morning? The guess here is that nothing happened, except for the team realizing it has a much more important game on Thursday night against the Raiders. Maybe there was a fear that Maclin could tweak his groin against Atlanta, putting him in serious doubt for the Oakland game. If that’s the deal, I can’t blame Reid or the medical staff.

Also, Phillip Gaines went from being a full pariticpant all week to questionable with a knee injury. To say that would be a big blow heading into this weekend would be the understatement of the century.
