Jeff Fisher's Hot Seat With Los Angeles Rams Reaches Whole New Level
Jeff Fisher better hope the Los Angeles Rams turn things around before the head coach loses his job.
When the Los Angeles Rams suffered a frustrating loss to the New York Giants while playing in London in Week 7, reports surfaced about how the next four games would determine Jeff Fisher‘s fate with the team. After the Rams lost their fourth straight game on Sunday to the Carolina Panthers, it’s safe to say the heat on Fisher’s hot seat has reached an all time high.
The fact that Los Angeles was even considering an extension for Fisher at the beginning of the year is an absolute joke as the head coach has yet to record a winning season since taking over as head coach in 2012. It was one thing to make the case for Fisher at the beginning of the year as the offense still seemed to be a work in progress, but watching the Rams over their last four games has been absolutely painful to witness.
So how bad has the offense been as of late? Well, the fact that Los Angeles has scored a combined 20 points over their last two games along with recording 10 points or less in four of eight games shows how bad this offense really is.
While not all of the blame can be placed on Case Keenum, keep in mind that it was Fisher who made it clear at the beginning of the season how he believed the veteran gave the Rams their best chance of making the playoffs. It may have worked out for a few games, but deciding to have Keenum run the offense has turned into one of the worst decisions by Los Angeles for the 2016 season.
For a coach that was given a four-game test to prove he deserves to keep his job, Fisher’s case didn’t exactly start off on a hot note as it took the Rams until the final minute of their game against the Carolina Panthers just to score their first touchdown. Between a 3-5 record along with the current losing streak, Fisher’s coaching seat is hotter than ever, and the sad thing is it doesn’t look like it’s going to cool down any time soon.
At this point, firing Fisher sooner rather than later may end up working out well for both parties as it’s clear the Rams could use a fresh start at head coach.
