Jeff Fisher Thinks Chargers RB Danny Woodhead is 'Weapon' for Patriots

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher might need to check the New England Patriots roster to see if Danny Woodhead is on there.

Many fans have called into question the coaching abilities of Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher in the 2016 NFL season (and for quite a while, to be fair). Instances like his persistence in starting Case Keenum, the inability to improve his defense, and a slew of other things have been less than flattering to Fisher. However, anything of that nature pales in comparison to what happened on Wednesday. Ahead of his Week 13 matchup with the New England Patriots, Fisher really dropped the ball.

Obviously the 9-2 Pats have the potential to cause Fisher’s 4-7 Rams real trouble. Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowksi (if he plays), and the list goes on with the New England weapons. However, Fisher is also worried about a running back or the Patriots—or at least one he thinks is on the Patriots.

During a conference call with the media on Wednesday, Jeff Fisher was talking about how to prepare for the Pats. Amidst his answers, he talked about Danny Woodhead being a “weapon” for New England. Not only is Woodhead out for the season with a torn ACL, he also plays for the San Diego Chargers:

And in case you think he was just mistaking Woodhead for another player on the Pats, he was asked about running backs before that answer—though he did just say “Danny” and not specifically Woohead:

How is this a real thing that happened?

I understand that we are all human and make mistakes. But you’re one job as a football coach is to know the opponent and how to beat them. And it appears Fisher doesn’t even know that Danny Woodhead hasn’t played for the Patriots in years. In light of this, the Rams might be more talented than we thought. If a team’s head coach is this out of touch with his job, even winning four games is impressive to this point.
