Jameis Winston: 'I've learned an awful lot' from Vincent Jackson
For all rookies, there's probably one or two players who really helped guide them during the early stages of their careers. Apparently, Vincent Jackson was that player for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston.
While Winston put together a season that's worthy of a Rookie of the Year award, he credits Jackson for helping him learn to be a pro.
Via Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune:
“When you see Vincent come to work every day, you not only see a great man but a man who loves his job and a man who knows how to do his job the right way,’’ Winston said.
“It comes from taking care of his body, his stature and how he talks to another man and addresses his teammates. I’ve learned an awful lot from him, even about how to talk to defensive guys.’’
When it came to talking to those defensive players, Winston explained that a bit more in-depth.
“It’s hard to talk to somebody on the other side of the ball because I might not see eye-to-eye all the time,’’ Winston said. “But Vincent has definitely helped me with that and overall with how to be a professional in this league.”
It was good to read that Jackson sort of took on the role of the "big brother" in this situation, helping Winston out along the way. With that said, Winston also did a great job of taking control as a leader and helping the Buccaneers grow as a team.
