Jake Plummer: Brock Osweiler could 'probably start for 20 teams'

Brock Osweiler might get his chance to take over for Peyton Manning one day.

If and when he does, another Sun-Devil-turned-Broncos quarterback thinks his former team is in for a treat.

“It’s tough though, very tough; I know he wants to play,” said former Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer of the team's current backup. “Yet you know you have the abilities and the talent to probably start for 20 teams in the NFL."

The Broncos are just as high on their future QB as Plummer is. After rumors swirled that they'd draft another QB competitor this year, they went seven rounds before taking a passer.

That's a huge vote of confidence is Osweiler, who's still learning how to play the game according to Plummer.

“He is competing for the starting job," Plummer said. "That sounds ludicrous to say that with Peyton Manning, but he has, in my mind, the arm that this offense almost requires."

Plummer knows that the 6-foot-7 backup can lead a team if he's ever called upon. Plummer just hopes that happens soon -- Osweiler pops on film when he watches him play.

"He’s got a big, big league arm, so he’s got to just be patient. He’s learning so much behind Peyton, but he needs reps.”
