Jaguars sign Bouman to replace backup QB McCown

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed quarterback Todd Bouman, giving the team an experienced backup to starter David Garrard.

The Jaguars also placed quarterback Luke McCown on injured reserve Tuesday. McCown tore a ligament in his right knee in the final minute of Sunday's 38-13 loss at San Diego. McCown suffered the same injury in 2006.

The 38-year-old Bouman has played in 42 games with six starts for Minnesota and New Orleans. He spent four weeks on Jacksonville's roster in 2007 and spent time with the club during training camp in 2008 and 2009.

He signed with Baltimore before the 2008 opener and spent the entire season with the Ravens. He was the team's No. 3 quarterback for the final 10 weeks, including the postseason.
