Injury Report: Week 10 vs. Kansas City

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Who’s next at center … Kalil, Gradkowski, or Scott? That question won’t be answered until closer to game time for the Carolina Panthers…

After filling in admirably for Carolina Panthers veteran center, Ryan Kalil, last week in Los Angeles; Gino Gradkowski now finds himself on the injury report for a home game against the Chiefs. Both Kalil and Gradkowski did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. However, Gradkowski was a limited participant on Friday, while Kalil watched from the sidelines.

Of the three Panthers who were absent the lineup last week (Vernon Butler, Michael Oher, and Shaq Thompson), two are expected to return against Kansas City. If Carolina hopes to continue their new found winning ways, a solid performance up front regardless of the center is going to be needed.

OUT:

S – Colin Jones, LT – Michael Oher

Backup safety and special teams player Colin Jones suffered a concussion last week in Los Angeles. Jones did not practice at all this week and remains in the concussion protocol. He will miss Sunday’s game.

Offensive tackle Michael Oher will miss his sixth straight game on Sunday. After entering the concussion protocol over a month ago, Oher did make an appearance at practice last week. He has yet to practice.

QUESTIONABLE:

DT – Vernon Butler, C – Gino Gradkowski, C – Ryan Kalil, DT – Kyle Love, LB – Shaq Thompson

Defensive tackle Vernon Butler is questionable but should return to the lineup for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain against Minnesota. Likewise, both Ryan Kalil and Gino Gradkowski’s playing status will not be known until closer to kickoff. It is likely that one of the two is active keeping Chris Scott in a reserve role.

Defensive tackle Kyle Love did not practice until Friday due to a knee injury. However, he was a full participant indicating he should be dressed and ready to go on Sunday. Rotating Butler and Love in along with the outside edge rushers should help to keep a fresh defensive line going after Smith all afternoon.

Finally, linebacker Shaq Thompson remains listed on the report with a knee injury after missing last week. Thompson returned to practice, albeit in a limited role, on both Thursday and Friday. He should be well enough to play on Sunday against Kansas City.
