Injured DT McDonald plans to play

Published Oct. 8, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

San Francisco defensive tackle Ray McDonald expects to play Sunday when the 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals.

McDonald, who tore a muscle at the top of his right biceps in Sunday's 34-3 victory over the Houston Texans, was told he could play with the injury as long as he can stand it.

The tear will need surgery following the season.

McDonald, in his seventh season, hopes to practice with the team on Wednesday to test the injury.
