Hernandez jerseys bring big money

If you’re a Patriots fan who bought an Aaron Hernandez jersey at the team’s pro shop or on the team’s website, you’ll be able to turn that in for a new jersey next weekend. However, you also might want to think about going a different route.
Owners of a No. 81 jersey who are OK with making a couple of extra dollars are finding their Hernandez jerseys to be quite valuable, according to The Boston Globe.
Some fans have put their jerseys up for auction on eBay, a decision that is paying off — literally. One Patriots fan, who thought about giving the jersey to Goodwill before putting it on eBay, says the jersey was sold for $289 on Sunday night.
“I thought about giving it to Goodwill, but I didn’t think anybody would want it.” John Lamothe told the Globe. “I thought I might get $15 for it [on eBay].”
He wasn’t alone. Others have seen their auctioned jerseys get up to more than $200 in bidding.
What's more, an autographed Hernandez jersey sold for a whopping $1,200 on Monday.
A quick search for “Aaron Hernandez jersey” on eBay produced 196 results Monday morning, with the prices not yet too outrageous. Most of those jerseys with high prices are (or at least claim to be) authentic on-field jerseys. Authentic jerseys retail for $249.95 on the NFL.com shop page.
Then again, those players still have jobs and haven't been accused of murder.
