Here come the Giants
This week Lombardi Ave goes one-on-one with the New York Giant’s FanSided site, GMEN HQ.
Setting down with us this week is Brandon Estrict. Estrict is a contributor for GMEN HQ. He is also a passionate fan of all New York based franchises.
Green Bay and New York are no strangers. Dating back to the days of the great Vince Lombardi. Brett Favre played his last game in a Packers uniform against the Giants. The Giants have also seemed to be Johnny on-the-spot, when it comes to exposing the Packers.
Low-and-behold, the New York Giant’s current head coach, Ben McAdoo also has ties to Green Bay.
New York has had an interesting season. Their most recent performance against the Vikings, echoed that of the Packers. Proving that Minnesota unfortunately, has one of the best defenses in all of the NFL.
Odell Beckham has often been visibly frustrated during the young 2016 season. If there is a game that he could unleash that, it could very well be this week. A very young secondary is without their veteran piece in corner Sam Shields.
One can only hope, that Shields can improve his health. Green Bay has endured enough career ending injuries of players in their prime.
So without further ado, what are they saying over at GMEN HQ? Scroll ahead to find out.

Packers no longer own the North?
Lombardi Ave: After Monday night’s game, have the Vikings officially replaced the Packers as the power of the NFC North?
GMEN HQ: The Minnesota Vikings have replaced the Green Bay Packers atop the NFC North, but Aaron Rodgers and company are always dangerous. The Giants are 1-2 against him in the regular season, 0-1 at Lambeau, and badly need a win to keep pace in the NFC East.
More from Lombardi Ave
Lombardi Ave: Has Odell Beckham Jr. become a distraction for the Giants? Also, do you look for this to be a breakout week for him as far as this season goes?
GMEN HQ: Odell Beckham Jr. has been a distraction. He’s not the Giants main problem, that would be the encumbered offense, but it doesn’t help that opponents are now exploiting his lack of composure on a weekly basis. If the ball doesn’t come his way, they’re using his frustration against him to take him out of games. Eli Manning has to get him involved early and often.
Lombardi Ave: Ben McAdoo has past ties to the Green Bay Packers. What are the first impressions of him as a head coach?
GMEN HQ: Ben McAdoo’s term is off to a rocky start. He hasn’t handled the team well publicly between the Josh Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. incidents and his conservative playcalling is limiting the offense. The Giants have been undisciplined as well, and given up big plays on penalties. McAdoo is in a rough spot early, but winning heals all. He’ll need the Giants to be successful in Green Bay to change the narrative in NYC.
Lombardi Ave: Eli Manning has four touchdowns, four interceptions and four fumbles. Given he has brought two Lombardi trophies to New York. Do you think there has been recent discussion, or perhaps in the foreseeable future of moving on from Manning?
GMEN HQ: In the last 10 years, outside of Derek Jeter, Eli Manning is New York’s prodigal son. There hasn’t been a peep in regards to moving on from him, and Odell Beckham Jr’s headline blitz has kept Eli insulated. If he continues to struggle and the Giants waste another season however, that becomes a legitimate question.
Lombardi Ave: Finally, give us your prediction for Sunday night’s game at Lambeau Field. What has the biggest impact on the final score?
GMEN HQ: The New York Giants will fight to the end, but it won’t be enough. They’ll be better than they’ve been, but injuries and offensive concerns on top of playing at Lambeau will prove to be too much. Big Blue comes up short, 28-24.
