Green Bay Packers News: A case for re-signing Nick Perry

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:00 p.m. ET

The Green Bay Packers’ decision to sign or not sign Nick Perry is no easy one. Today’s Titletown Report features a case for keeping him in the building.

Good morning, and  welcome to the first Titletown Report of the week. The offseason moves on, and the focus is well and truly shifting towards free agency and the 2017 NFL Draft. We have you covered here at Lombardi Ave.

Free agency grabs the spotlight this morning, but for once not about players on other teams the Packers could (or should) attempt to sign, but rather one of their own.

Let’s dive into the Titletown Report for Monday.

Packers need to pull out all the stops for Nick Perry — Hunter Noll of NFL Spin Zone

Should the Packers re-sign Nick Perry? And at what cost? This is arguably the toughest decision Ted Thompson is faced with, as I wrote about last week. Hunter Noll of NFL Spin Zone believes Green Bay must get a deal done with Perry, and it’s easy to see why. Perry might not be amongst the NFL’s elite, but he’s the best pass rusher on the roster. You don’t want to let him leave the building.

Cory’s Corner: The NFL must protect Sam Shields from himself — Cory Jennerjohn of Cheesehead TV

Sam Shields’ future in the NFL remains in doubt, but the Packers couldn’t clear him medically. Talent isn’t the issue here, it’s the worrying history of concussions. The fact Shields was still dealing with concussion symptoms five months after suffering the injury, along with the increasing amount of time it has taken to recover from each concussion, makes one wonder if retirement it the best option for his health.

Brett Favre, like Tom Brady, is missing his Super Bowl jersey — Rob Demovsky of ESPN

Tom Brady may have a fifth ring, but he’s without his Super Bowl jersey from last week’s win. He isn’t alone, though. Brett Favre is unsure of the whereabouts of his Super Bowl-winning jersey from 1997.
