Ryan has been diagnosed with ligament damage, also known as "turf toe", and is flying to North Carolina to meet with renowned foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson. Ryan injured his right big toe on the first series against the Buccaneers. The team will then take a week-by-week approach to see when he will be fit to return to the field. Coach Mike Smith says Chris Redman, who took over for Ryan in Sunday's 20-17 win over Tampa Bay, will start against the Eagles. Redman's last start came in the final game of the 2007 season. On the Falcons' other injury front, starting running back Michael Turner suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's win vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the sprain is in a different area than his previous ankle sprain. While his previous injury was a high-ankle sprain, the one suffered Sunday is lower on the ankle. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
