Giants' Victor Cruz accepts pay cut

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:31 p.m. ET

EAST RUTHERFORD, N. J. (AP) The Giants came to agreement on a pay cut for wide receiver Victor Cruz, only hours after New York general manager Jerry Reese spent $200 million on free agents Olivier Vernon, Damon Harrison and Janoris Jenkins,.

Cruz confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday night the reduction that will cut his salary from $7.9 million to $1.3 million. His message read: ''Once a Giant, always a Giant. See you in September.''

Incentives could bring his salary to $5.5 million.

Cruz has not played most of the last two seasons, first because of a torn patellar tendon suffered in 2014. A calf strain required surgery and kept him off the field all of last season.
