Giants' Vereen makes one guarantee about the Patriots game

Before Super Bowl Bowl XLII, New York Giants former wide receiver Plaxico Burress predicted that the record-setting 2007 New England Patriots would score just 17 points. As the Giants get set for their next game against the Patriots, in Week 10, running back Shane Vereen had his own guarantee to make.

"I can guarantee you can have two teams going at it for four quarters," Vereen said Tuesday while visiting PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, per NJ Advanced Media.

Vereen made his "guarantee" after first jokingly refusing to offer any serious proclamation about the Giants' chances of defeating the currently undefeated Patriots.

"It's an exciting week," Vereen said. "These are sports meccas, two big sports franchises colliding.

"Both teams are in first place and playing pretty well. It's going to be a fun game. You always get up and excited for big games, especially in Week 10. There are a lot of guys who know each other, both cities are pretty close. Both organizations are so storied. When it comes down to it, it's a good, old-fashioned football game."

After playing an integral role in New England's offense for the first four seasons of his NFL career, he has caught on quick with the Giants in 2015. Through nine games, Vereen has 483 total yards and three touchdowns.
