Giants K Josh Brown doesn't agree with his one-game suspension

The NFL has suspended New York Giants kicker Josh Brown for the team’s 2016 season opener for an unspecified violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

Brown, 37, has been the Giants’ kicker for the past three seasons after previous stints with the Seahawks, Rams and Bengals. He made his first Pro Bowl last season on the strength of converting 30 of 32 field goal attempts.

He signed a reported two-year, $4 million contract in April that ties him to the Giants through 2017 and will miss the Giants’ Sept. 11 game against Dallas. Brown issued a statement disagreeing with the NFL’s decision:

"While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept it. I have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team, and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and in my ability to move on and contribute to the team."

Giants coach Ben McAdoo, too, issued a statement:

"We have been supportive of Josh and will continue to be, but we accept the league’s decision."
