For the first time since his July 4th fireworks accident, Jason Pierre-Paul opened his line of communication with the New York Giants and general manager Jerry Reese earlier this week. More recently, Pierre-Paul has also spoken with teammate and fellow defensive end George Selvie.

I talked to Jason," Selvie told Giants reporters Wednesday when asked if he had spoken with Pierre-Paul, per Big Blue Interactive. "He’s doing well, he is just trying to get healthy, so we’re just waiting on him to get healthy and come back and join the team.

"He has to feel like he’s healthy again and when he’s ready to come back, he’ll be back. He’s going to be here, so we’re just waiting for him to come back."

Pierre-Paul hasn't signed his franchise tender yet and he hasn't shown up at the Giants' training facility for treatment on his injuries. The Giants will continue to play the waiting game. In the mean time, Selvie and the Giants' young stable of defensive ends will continue to receive valuable practice repetitions.
