Giants CB Rodgers-Cromartie dealing with groin issue

Published Aug. 12, 2015 7:08 p.m. ET

The New York Giants could be without both their starting cornerbacks when they open up the preseason on Friday night. After losing Prince Amukamara to a groin injury earlier this week, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin announced that Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is also dealing with a groin issue.

Rodgers-Cromartie was more cryptic when reporters asked him about he felt at this stage of training camp.

“I’m alright … for the most part,’’ Rodgers-Cromartie said Wednesday before practice, per the New York Post. “I don’t know. Want to go out there, limited right now, so even if you want to take time off and heal your body but your guys are out there fighting, you got to be out there with ‘em. I’ll get through it.’’

The Giants have not announced if Rodgers-Cromartie will be out on Friday, but all signs point to him missing the game. The Giants opened up camp with a lack of depth at the cornerback position, relative to the rest of the roster, and these injuries have only made things worse.
