Giants are focused on improving red zone offense

The New York Giants used the bye week to improve offensively in one specific area -- the red zone. On 56.56 percent of the Giants' red zone trips, they have failed to score a touchdown. This is something head coach Tom Coughlin has looked into fixing.

"Oh yeah, oh yeah," said Coughlin on Monday to reporters. "Tremendous amount of time spent on it and a tremendous amount of thoughts based on it. Not only on the offensive side, but on the defensive side, as well. The way we research ourselves is to look at what we call “worst to best” and that’s where all our attention goes and that’s where our time is spent. When the players return, they get the benefit of not only the visual by the tape but the numbers and all the things that go with it. But it’s also for the coaches, not just for the players. Yeah, we jump hard into that."

The Giants will welcome back incumbent starting tight end Larry Donnell to the lineup in Week 12. Donnell has scored two touchdowns this season and has eight in the last two years since emerging as the Giants' starter. The Giants also signed wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. He scored 27 touchdowns during five-year run with the Giants.
