Geno Smith throws 3 interceptions in practice

It may only be minicamp but New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith enters an important time in his young NFL career as he fights for the starting quarterback job in 2015.
On Tuesday, the Jets opened up their mandatory minicamp and Geno Smith threw three interceptions in practice. Two of those interceptions came in the red zone which is an area the team needs to improve on in 2015.
Geno and the Jets have been in the news a lot lately as it pertains to the quarterback situation. Earlier in May, offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said that Geno would be the starter in Week 1 of the 2015 season. No more than a couple of days later, head coach Todd Bowles clarified Gailey's comments saying that there would be an open competition during training camp and it was Geno's spot to lose.
It is very early in the offseason and Smith is learning a new offense so everyone will be keeping an eye on how quickly he can pick up the system and gel with his new weapons on offense.
