FOX Sports 1 "The Big Catch" Sports Emmy Awards Submission

The only thing Randy Moss (aka “Straight Bass Homie") likes better than talking football is bass fishing, and that is made even sweeter when a little friendly competition is involved. In this unique and informative NFL & COLLEGE PRE-SEASON PREVIEW SPECIAL, Randy challenges Brian Urlacher, Joel Klatt, and Peter Schrager to a real bass fishing tourney while they serve up unique insight, opinion, and predictions on the upcoming football season.

Chock-full of stats and information, “The Big Catch” is not only informative, but full of real behind-the-scenes man-style vacation fun. These guys really did go away for a few days fishing, and the competition on the water didn’t end until the last fish was caught. In this first-ever format, the classic sports talk show is taken out of the confines of a studio and into real-life situations where the guys broke it all down in unique backdrops on the water and off in Big Bear Lake, California.

The Big Catch Included special appearances from Hall of Famer, legendary Coach, NFL on FOX analyst, Jimmy Johnson, and featured a chilling surprise visit from former NFL VP of Officiating and current Rules Analyst for FOX Sports, Mike Pereira. The winner of the Bass Fishing tourney was determined by rules created right there on the dock before the contest began. The winner, it was decided, would be the one who catches the most "inches in fish…” while "The losers" must jump into the chilly Big Bear Lake.

Bottom line, the heart and soul of “The Big Catch” is evident in the great time the guys had on the trip. The competition on the water was fierce (for some.) This isn’t just a sports talk show, it’s a new way for the audience to get the same information in a new, dynamic and exciting setting.
