Santana Moss is a staple of Redskins Nation and has no problem speaking his mind. The former wide receiver blasted NFL officials after a close Week 3 win.

Santana Moss is a Washington Redskins fan favorite. The star receiver amassed over 10,000 yards throughout his 10 year career and retired with the team after the 2014 season. He is no stranger to speaking his mind and after the close Week 3 victory over the New York Giants, Moss sounded off about NFL officials and penalty calls on 106.7 The Fan.

We haven’t been getting those calls forever…

You know, folks used to rave about how the league hates the Redskins. And as a player, you look at ’em like, ‘Man. How could you sit here and possibly think that they hate us?’ But then when you start seeing the games being called, some of the games being so close.

The pro-bowl wideout reacted to the longtime habit of Redskins games being decided by close margins, attributing much of that to calls made by the officials. Moss went on to talk about how he used to not let the officials decide a game, but couldn’t get over the frustration that came with seeing these close calls go other teams’ ways.

I used to be one of those guys in the locker room, ‘Don’t let the officials dictate our game. Let’s take advantage of these guys so we can not have to worry about the officials calling a play, or a penalty or two on us that’s going to change the whole outcome of the game.’ And, to be honest with you, it seems to happen more often…

I don’t know. I’m away from the game now, so they can’t fine me, but the officials, man. Do they have anything out for the Redskins? I don’t know. But it seemed like whatever it is about us, every time we faced someone, they were going to have control over how we play the game.

The Redskins pulled out a 29-27 win in week 3 over NFC East rival New York Giants. The win comes one week after a tough 23-27 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Whether or not Moss’ critique of NFL officials is correct, the Redskins do need to take advantage of momentum shifting calls that go their way. Week 4 brings the Cleveland Browns to town and gives the Skins the chance to reach 2-2 with a win.
