Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 3: WR Eric Decker

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

When it comes to his Fantasy Football value, wide receiver Eric Decker of the New York Jets should ride the bench heading into Week 3.

Unfortunately for fantasy football owners of wide receiver Eric Decker of the New York Jets, things aren’t looking too good. As he enters a Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, he might see limited action. As per the Media Relations Department of the Jets, Decker did not participate in practice on Wednesday and saw limited practice on Thursday.

Even though Decker fully participated in practice on Friday, he’s been nursing a shoulder injury ever since Week 2’s victory over the Buffalo Bills. While he’ll more than likely be playing in Week 3 against the Chiefs, fantasy owners might want to sit him this week in case he sees limited action.

It’s best fantasy owners look for a different wide receiver this week. Even if Decker was healthy at this point in time, he’s simply a WR2 in the grand scheme of things.

Owners should consider finding other alternatives from their bench or even hitting the waiver wire for the best available WR2 or even WR3 to replace him this week. Even if Decker sees action on Sunday, don’t expect him to have much of an impact as he’ll more than likely have a limited role.

Last week against the Bills, Decker totaled six receptions, 126 receiving yards, and a touchdown.

Fantasy owners might expect him to have another big game but considering he missed a practice and was limited in another, it’s best to stay away this week.

If you’re able to land wide receiver Quincy Enunwa of the Jets, he would actually be the best replacement possible.

Enunwa will more than likely see a massive increase of reps against the Chiefs.

Even if Decker plays, look for the Jets to incorporate more of a run-oriented offense to be their primary way to keep those chains moving.

Overall, Decker won’t replicate his Week 2 results and will more than likely see a lesser than normal amount of reps. Hopefully, he doesn’t get injured but keep in mind if he does start or play, that could be a possibly if the Jets are throwing him into this game too soon from his injury.
