Eric Decker: An MLB team will sign Tim Tebow just to sell tickets
As far as athlete hype-tornados go, few can thump with the gale wind force of Tebowmania.
It sent fans flocking to Mile High when he entered the league in 2010, and has seemingly cropped up intermittently every year since like a red tide of bad spirals. Our latest iteration of Tim Tebow comebacks dropped Tuesday, when Tebow's agents announced their soon-to-be-29-year-old client is pursuing a career in the MLB.
The announcement raised eyebrows, but as Tebow's former New York Jets teammate Eric Decker told ESPN's Rich Cimini Tuesday: Someone's going to give him a contract — if not just for the ticket sales and publicity.
"Someone is going to sign him," Decker said. "I guarantee you that, because it's Tim Tebow and the [the fans] will be coming to a baseball game with a football jersey on, selling tickets."
Decker said Tebow's fighting an uphill battle, but doesn't doubt his work ethic and is interested to see how this will play out.
Tebow is definitely going to put work into it. He's been working on his swing something fierce.
Go do your thing, Tim. Worst case scenario, there's always the SEC Network.
