Eli Manning unlikely to receive contract extension before 2015 season

Quarterback Eli Manning is entering the final year of his contract with the New York Giants, but the sides are not currently engaged in discussions to extend his deal past the 2015 season. All signs point to the two-time Super Bowl MVP playing out his 12th season in the NFL without any long-term guarantee from the only team he's ever played for.
“No discussions yet,” Manning said, per the New York Daily News. “I don’t know if there will be or not.”
Manning enters the 2015 season fresh off a bounce back year the saw him throw for 4,410 yards with a 63.1 completion percentage, 30 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. Manning is entering his age-34 season, but he is the definition of durability. Manning has not missed a single start for the Giants in all 11 seasons that he has served as the starting quarterback.
In March, fellow two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger signed a five-year, $99 million contract with $60.75 million guaranteed. This is believed to be the framework for Manning's potential new deal with the Giants.
