Easley, LaFell among nine placed on injury lists by Patriots

Published Jul. 28, 2015 9:25 a.m. ET

The New England Patriots will open training camp on Wednesday with nine players on the physically unable to perform or non-football injury lists. The two big names that stand out on the lists are second-year defensive lineman Dominique Easley and wide receiver Brandon LaFell.

The others are wide receiver Matthew Slater, linebackers Dane Fletcher and Chris White, defensive tackle Vince Taylor, guard Ryan Wendell, and defensive lineman Chris Jones. Quarterback Matt Flynn was also placed on the non-football injury list, which allows players to miss practice for, you guessed it, non-football reasons.

While it sounds serious that these players are starting training camp injured, it's far less serious than it appears. Players on the PUP list can practice immediately upon clearance from the medical staff, whenever they're healthy enough to play. Flynn, who's on the NFI list, can also be activated at any time, as well.
