Eagles OLB Marcus Smith carted off field, only a tweaked hamstring

Philadelphia Eagles second year outside linebacker Marcus Smith had been making excellent strides in training camp after a strong offseason. While working his way up, he has proven to be an asset on special teams. During Thursday's joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens, Smith was carted off the field, but he avoided a scare.

Smith escaped with just a "tweaked hamstring", according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport

Smith had been gearing up to make a run at the Eagles' No. 3 spot on the depth chart at outside linebacker. After losing Trent Cole this offseason and promoting Brandon Graham to the first team, the Eagles need an edge rusher to step up and spell starters Graham and Connor Barwin.
